Course Description & Objectives:
Objectives: By the end of the course the candidate should be well versed with all methods of non-invasive cardiology. He should be able to conservatively manage all of the prevalent cardiac diseases and should know the indications for invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Lecture topics cover invasive and non invasive investigations in cardiology, heart failure, rheumatic heart diseases, endocardial, myocardial and pericardial diseases.
- Ischemic heart disease, cor pulmonale systemic hypertension and drug treatment of heart disease also discussed.
- Thromboembolic diseases and the arrhythmias covered.
- Practical involve exposure to echocardiography and mastering of ECG interpretation.
- Course seminars given in collaboration with the Uganda Heart Institute.
