Course Description & Objectives: 

This is a core course that must be passed by all students. It is a 4-week course.This course will be conducted abroad whenever possible to enable the students get exposure to the Family Medical Practice as done in those countries where it is well established. In the absence of the opportunity to do it abroad, it will be done in a local Family practice that meets the quality standards of academic rigor.

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of this course. The student shall be able to:

  1. Practice home-based management of conditions
  2. keep medical records of the families under his/her care
  3.  Maintain good contacts with a network of stakeholders i.e. consultants, practicing nurses, clinical officers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, medical social workers, psychiatrists/ behavioural therapists, psychologists, dieticians, pharmacists, etc
