Course Description & Objectives: 

This course introduces students to the importance of forestry in development and poverty reduction. The current local and global arrangements and strategies for forest development will be emphasised. Objectives·         To demonstrate to students the relevance of forestry to economic growth and development·         To provide students with background knowledge of status of plantation forestry in Uganda and other selected countries.·         To enable students understand the principles of sustainable commercial forestry 

Learning Outcomes: 

The course develops and enhances the students’ ability to apply commercial forestry knowledge and skills for development and poverty reduction.
