Course Description & Objectives: 

This course is intended to introduce students to the concepts of primary health care, the health care system and organization of the community. Activities will include over view lectures, tutorials and activities at primary health care facilities and in the community.The aim of the course is to sensitize students to the health care needs of the community and to acclimatize them to living in the communities within which they will work.

Learning Outcomes: 

The students should be able to:

  • Discuss the elements and principles of PHC
  • Describe the national health policy, organization and structure of the health care delivery systems
