Objectives:

  • At the end of the course students should know the principles of clinical observation and assessment
  • Students should be able to identify the generic skills needed by a speech and language therapist when working across a range of impairment and disability types.

  • Principles and types of assessment
  • The differences and issues in assessing children and adults
  • Translation
  • Recording information, drawing conclusions (diagnosis and prognosis)
  • Case Histories
  • Designing assessments for children and adults
  • Presenting information to clients / carers / professionals
