Course Description & Objectives: 

This involves two weeks of fieldwork in the areas of specialization including geological mapping (collecting structural, lithological and mineralogical data. Petrographic data is obtained in the laboratory), drilling and well logging, geophysics, analytical technics, reservoir design and modelling.  All the data is compiled into a project report.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of this course students should be able to:

  • Apply the skills acquired in their areas of specialization in petroleum industry.
  • Carry out systematic data collection and report writing.
  • Analyse and interpret geological/geophysical/ geochemical/engineering data.
  • Work in the field, which is the perfect laboratory for geoscientists.
