Course Description & Objectives: 

The course covers terminologies used in microbiology, major groups of microorganisms and their role in causing disease in populations and methods of controlling diseases. Beneficial roles of micro-organisms are also described.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:i)    Define common terminologies in Microbiology.ii)   Recognize the differences between the major groups of micro-organisms.iii)  Explain the factors that influence microbial growth and distribution patterns.iv)  Identify the major reservoirs of infectious agents and transmissions routes. v)  Explain the role of micro-organisms in disease.vi)  Demonstrate the ability to observe and accurately identify micro-organisms
