This course introduces students to properties of porous media such as rocks and fluid flow through rocks, velocity dispersion and attenuation and their applications.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
Relate properties of porous media to fluid flow in rocks.
Use the wave equation to determine fluid velocity in rocks.
Determine hydrocarbon fluid properties.
Apply the principles of seismic rock physics to exploration of oil.
