SUPERVISORY TECHNIQUES OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

This course give an in-depth understanding of the concepts of supervision and inspection, encourages reflection on and exploration of teachers and supervisors’ behaviour.  It enables the students to compare old and modern methods of supervision and analyse the correct, effective and appropriate implementation strategies in varying contexts. Finally, it covers an analysis of supervisory operations and assessment of inspection/ supervision  tools to enable students draw up their own.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Course Objectives/Aims:The course is designed to enable students focus on the role of supervision in facilitating teaching and learning. By the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. critically analyse the concept of supervision.
2. examine the trends of supervision with a view of drawing lessons for the present innovations in supervision in Uganda.
3. evaluate the supervisory operations in their countries.
4. examine the implications of applying modern supervision methods in a developing country’s context.
5. examine the categories of supervisory behaviour and assess the implications of their application.
6. analyse various inspection formats with a view of designing design standard model.
