Course Description & Objectives: 

The course which targets teachers and community-based trainers in the area of conservation is meant to equip the learners with skills in the design and formulation of programmes and the communication of environmental messages to particular target groups such as women, school and out of school youth and teachers. The course covers environmental literacy, teacher competences, ITK, communication and practical activities.  

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Acquire skills and knowledge needed to design and implement EE curricula
  • Acquire skills required to design and implement EE programmes for school and communities in the locality
  • Design various strategies for effectively communicating conservation messages to school children and to members of the local community.
  • Assess the effectiveness of environmental education approaches and methods.
  • Analyze the existing education system in Uganda for its suitability for integrating EE
  • Present a written report of the Field Course undertaken on the status of the environment and EE in that particular locality.
