The upshot of all the developmental work in both qualitative and quantitative methods is that there is now as much variation among both researchers as there is between quantitatively or qualitatively oriented scholars and evaluators. A primary purpose of this course is to sort out the major perspectives in that debate, portray diversity of qualitative and quantitative approaches now available and examine the influences of this diversity on applications including programme evaluation.
