Course Description & Objectives: 

This course introduces students to the structure and function of the endocrine system. The different types of hormones, mode of action, detection and estimation of body hormonal levels, and the endocrine disorders.

Learning Outcomes: 

The course will enable the students to;

  1. To describe the structure and function of the endocrine system
  2. To describe the different types of hormones and their mode of action highlighting the role of the 2nd messenger.
  3. To explain the principles on which methods of detecting and estimation of hormonal levels in the body are based and how to interpret the findings.
