Course Description & Objectives: 

The course will cover seed structure, seed germination; external and internal factors affecting germination and plant growth and development, importance of plant hormones in plant production.  

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course the student should be able to;

  • Describe the process of seed formation
  • Describe structure and chemical composition of seeds  and their economic importance
  • Explain the conditions suitable for germination.
  • Describe the causes and methods of overcoming seed dormancy
  • Demonstrate techniques of measuring growth.
