Course Description & Objectives: 

Basic concepts of Environment and Environmental education . General Environmental concerns, local, national, regional and global. Environment (you) the community and county interactions. Introduction to Environmental Education in Uganda. Cultural (tribal) names, practices and environmental issues in Uganda in public education and sensitization in Environmental matters. Role of NGO’s in Environmental Education, Advocacy and community mobilization. Environmental policies in Uganda. Uganda and the International/Global Environmental Issues .Specialized training in Environmental Management issues. Development and Environmental relationships and /or conflicts. Role of government and NGO’s in sustainable development.  Disasters and Disaster preparedness. Types of disasters and their effects. Prevention and/or mitigation measures. Community sensitization and mobilization as regards disasters’ issues.Role of government, government agencies, NGO’s. The International responses in Disasters prediction, mitigation and management.
