Course Description & Objectives: 

Definition of soil, management and concepts of soil and soil management. Factors and processes in soil formation and development. Components of soil and their interrelationships. Functions of soils (to plants, man and environment). Properties of soil (physical, chemical and biological), their assessment in the field and laboratory. Relating properties of soil and functions/use. Soil degradation (processes, causes and effects) and assessment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  objective:

  • To develop the capacity of students to manage soil for sustainable production.

  • Students acquire knowledge and skills in managing soil for sustainable agricultural productivity
