Course Description & Objectives:

This is an introductory course in probability and statistics. It introduces the student to sample spaces, algebra of events, defines probability and gives its axioms. It also covers conditional probabilities, independence of events, Bayes’ theorem and application of combinatorial theory. In addition, random variables and probability distributions are studied. The course ends with introduction to the sampling theory and statistical inference.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Course Objectives:

  • To identify common distributions and their applications.
  • To lay a foundation for advanced study in probability and statistics.
  • To make inference on the mean of a normal distribution.
  • To use computers to model these distributions
