Course Description & Objectives: 

The course introduces students to fundamentals of carpentry and wood jointing and gives a detailed account of the tools and machinery used in wood joinery. The process of designing and making the various types of joints is comprehensively covered.

Learning Outcomes: 
  • Correctly match different wood species to a specific task
  • Design and make appropriate types of joints during construction work.
  • Deal with wood movement and associated problems.
  • Identify and use the different wood working the tools and machinery required for wood jointing and how they are maintained.
  • Run their own carpentry business
