Course Description & Objectives:

The course introduces students to fundamentals of carpentry and wood jointing and gives a detailed account of the tools and machinery used in wood joinery. The process of designing and making the various types of joints is comprehensively covered.

Learning Outcomes:

Correctly match different wood species to a specific task
Design and make appropriate types of joints during construction work.
Deal with wood movement and associated problems.
Identify and use the different wood working the tools and machinery required for wood jointing and how they are maintained.
Run their own carpentry business
