Collective action in common property regimes. Access to resources held under common property arrangements. Behavioral theories in common property regimes. Natural resource management situations and the likelihood of collective action. Design criteria that make common property systems robust.

Concepts of ethics and integrity; national and international frameworks for fostering ethical conduct; professionalism and professional code of conduct; issues and challenges in agricultural extension service provision and research; accountability and quality assurance in agricultural service delivery.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

The course will cover the role played by plant breeding in Agriculture, evolution of crops and their origin. Importance of diversity in breeding, germplasm collection, preservation and use.  Reproductive structure and systems in plant will be examined and related to different breeding techniques                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Objectives:

Overview of the fish sub -sector in Uganda. Constraints to improved production and the potential for improvement. Record keeping. Production systems. Breeds and breed characteristics of pigs and rabbits.

Recent developments in the poultry industry, worldwide as well as regional (trends in poultry nutrition, breeding, health, housing and marketing). Practical poultry feeding: Nutrient requirements of poultry and deficiency diseases. Common feedstuffs for poultry feeding; evaluation of unconventional feedstuffs; least-cost poultry ration formulation, mixing and packaging; principles of restricted and ad libitum feeding.
