Drainage principles, design of drainage system tiles, ditches, pipes and construction. Terraces and other conservation structures, in-situ water harvesting.  Reservoir characteristics and design. Gender considerations in soil and water conservation

ENGINEERING EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN

Elements of engineering experiments. Parameter Estimation; Confidence intervals and hypothesis tests.  Data collection using experiments or surveys. Design of experiments and surveys. Analysis and interpretation of data. Regression and correlation analysis. Covariance analysis. Data presentation

IRRIGATION SYSTEM DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT

Irrigation principles: Evapo-transpiration, irrigation requirements and scheduling, plant-soil-water relationship, efficiencies, measurement of irrigation water and delivery rates. Land grading and field layout. Irrigation methods: border, check basin, furrow, sprinkler and drip irrigation. Design and management of irrigation systems. Gender considerations in planning, design, selection and management of irrigation systems

Safety Critical System

The  principal  objective  of  this  course  is  to  give  students  an  opportunity  to acquire knowledge in the development of safety critical systems, including the theory  and  practice  of  applying   safety  analysis  and  formal  specification techniques.·           Students will also gain experience in the use of such specifications in software development and testing
