Course Description & Objectives: 

This course aims at creating an understanding of agroforestry as an integral part of land-use systems.  Although agroforestry has been practiced for a long time, only recently has it received the attention of professional foresters and become a subject of research and education. It has been incorporated in education and training programs at an unprecedented level since 1982.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Objectives:

  • Enable students appreciate the importance of agroforestry for social, ecological, economic, cultural and environmental purposes.
  • Equip students with knowledge and skill of designing and evaluating of Agroforestry systems.

 

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, students are expected to be familiar with:

  • the concepts and principles of agroforestry (AF);
  • the complexity and diversity of AF systems;
  • improved and appropriate AF technologies especially for the tropics;
