Course Description & Objectives: 

The course is intended to equip the students with an understanding and appreciation of conflict in natural resource management and use, and how this conflict should be addressed. The course introduces the concept and theory of conflict and conflict resolution as a means of more effective natural resource management and conservation. The course demonstrates conflict is an inherent and unavoidable aspect of natural resource use, and therefore appropriate measures have to be formulated to mitigate the impacts of this conflict. Case studies in Uganda are used to illustrate particular conflicts and conflict situations, their impacts and possible approaches for prevention or resolution.
