Course Description & Objectives: 

The course introduces undergraduates to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and its contribution to sustainable development. The following topics are covered: definition of EIA; the history of EIA; evolution of EIA; policy, law and Institutions for implementation of EIA. The key steps of EIA: Screening, scoping, assessing, impact identification and prediction, EIA methods; alternatives in EIA; preparation of EIA reports. Decision-making for EIA; monitoring and audits and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).
