Course Description & Objectives: 

The course introduces students to basic principles of environmental impact assessment with a focus to crop and food production activities. The course scope encompasses aspects of selection and gene flow in natural and artificial ecologies, (models for prediction studying adaptability and micro-evolutionary change; Variability and uncertainty of crop-to wide-hybridisation. Sources of gene escape. Ecological risks of genetically modified plants (virus and insect resistance).
