Students undertake field attachment II to increase their ability in analysing and planning strategies to improve Agricultural Land Use and Management. Students are encouraged to go back to the same communities of Field Attachment 1 so as to build on available information, experience and contacts. In the field, students are expected to assess the extent of land use management issues and status. After discussion with the field supervisor and the household/community, apply and implement a demonstration using technology (ies) to solve a specific identified land use planning or management problem with the household of community. During implementation of the selected technology, the student should evaluate farmer success and failure with the purpose of suggesting appropriate technology. In the last week of the attachment, the student should request the farmers to evaluate the relevance of the demonstration in addressing their local land use planning or management problems. All through the attachment, the student should study, document and evaluate the resource flows at a given household farm or a given farming community. Collection of gender-disaggregated data (where relevant) and identification of gender issues in specific case studies. Writing and report submission. Evaluation: Field logbook (20%), evaluation by academic and field supervisor (20%) and written report (60%).
