The main purpose of this attachment is to give students a chance to relate what they learn in class to real field conditions. This is meant to develop their ingenuity and skills. The exercise should preferably be carried out in the student’s home area. The general theme of the attachment is: “Situation analysis of land use, natural resources and their management”. The area of study should be a manageable group of neighbouring farms or catchment or village. Collection of gender-disaggregated data, where relevant, is highly encouraged. Evaluation will be based on the following: Written report (60%); Field log book (20%); and evaluation by academic staff (20%).
