Course Description & Objectives: 

Principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and the applications of these principles for insect pest management. The essential building blocks for the creation of IPM programs are considered; include ecological considerations of the insect pests, yield loss assessments and the relationship between yield loss and pest infestation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Objectives:

  • To introduce and equip final year undergraduate BSc. Agriculture and BSc. Horticulture students with knowledge and skills for designing and implementing insect pest management strategies in Crop Husbandry.
  • To make known to the students the ecological considerations necessary in designing pest management strategies
  • To provide the students with the right foundation to enable them to make correct decisions in managing crop pests
