Course Description & Objectives: 

General introduction: importance of small ruminants; major production systems in Uganda; traditional types of livestock production systems. Management of small ruminants: Special features of small ruminants; Small ruminants as sources of meat and milk; Constraints to increased productivity. Reproduction: brief review of physiology of reproduction; basic concepts of reproduction; reproductive performance .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    objective:

  • To impart technical and practical skills to students that are necessary for efficient and sustainable production of small ruminants.

   

Learning Outcomes: 
  • equip students with competences for delivery of services to practitioners engaged in small ruminants production,
  • equip students with knowledge and skills of assessing cultural, social-economic and environmental issues affecting sustainable small ruminant production.
