Course Description & Objectives: 

Concepts of conservation and ecosystems. Soil as a sink for waste matter. Pollution and pollutants: Sources and types of soil pollutants. Effects of pollutants on soil properties and productivity. Effects of pollutants on the other components of environment e.g. water, air, vegetation and animal life.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of this course, the students will be able to:

  • Acquire knowledge on how to protect or conserve the environment
  • Have a better understanding of conservation concepts
  • Understand how soil and the environment are polluted
