Course Description & Objectives: 

At the end of their first year students will be attached to a host community or agro-based organization such as agribusinesses, local government agricultural offices or NAADS where they will be attached for a period of 10 weeks lasting the entire recess term of the University calendar. During this time students will be assigned to a field supervisor by the host organization with whom they are to develop a learning contract of desired work experiences.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Objectives:

  • To equip the students with knowledge and skills needed for conducting and reporting scientific research, in the field of Agricultural Extension and rural development. The course aims at guiding the students to develop local and critical thinking as well as analytical capabilities in action research.
Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of their first field attachment, the students should be able to:

  • Integrate and apply the principles of experiential learning into action research
  • Develop detailed reports of how they conducted community situation analyses and needs assessments
