Course Description & Objectives: 

This course focuses at equipping students with competencies for planning, organizing and conduction effective extension and or training programs in agriculture and rural development. It deals with: classification of extension methods and their use; understanding and targeting of clients; choosing appropriate methods; planning extension activities and choosing of appropriate methods and, practical skills development in visual aids production.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Objective: 

  • To equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively plan, organize and conduct extension and training programs/ activities in agriculture and rural development.
Learning Outcomes: 
  • Demonstrate understanding of the usefulness of extension methods in extension services delivery processes
  • Gain knowledge and skills to plan, organise and effectively execute extension programs using different methods appropriate to identified training needs and situations of their clientele.
  • Select / design appropriate visual aids like posters, leaflets, drawings, photos and flashcards for use in specific extension sessions
